UNWINDING THE SPINE

with KAT VILLAIN

SUNDAY 2/25, 7:45-9:15pm at LOVE YOGA VENICE

The spine is the centre of our health, the heart of our nervous system. Esoterically the spine is our celestial pillar, the gateway between the cosmos and the planet and the highway from the primitive to the conscious. As gravity pulls our spines down we need tools and techniques to manipulate gravity. This workshop is focused on unwinding the spine, unraveling and relinquishing deeply held patterns that lie within. To have a healthy and supple spine is the gateway into an elevated vision. Techniques will be utilized to inform the flow and fluidity of our spine, allowing us to emulate this fluidity in our everyday lives. Liberation within the confines of our body starts with our physical vessel and a liberated body is a liberated mind. Come prepared to undulate to good music. The practice will be followed by a Yoga Nidra to reset the nervous system.

GET YOUR MOJO FLOWING

with RAQUEL JORDAN and KIANA REEVES

SATURDAY 3/3 12:30-3:30 at LOVE YOGA VENICE

Yoga teacher, Raquel Jordan and co-owner of The Tulip co., Kiana Reeves join forces to bring you a workshop for women’s sexual health and wellbeing. They will bring to light ancient, esoteric practices from both the Yogic and Taoist traditions. The workshop begins with a circle discussion which includes; talking about the Jade egg, it’s benefits and how to use it. A Jade egg is a small egg meant to be inserted in the female vagina or yoni. We will explore how the Jade egg can be used with the option to insert for the Yoga/movement portion of the class. We find in the ancient texts on Yoga the mention of Mula Bandha. Bandhas are energy lock centers located in the body to help manage chi or life force. Mula Bandha is engaging the pelvic floor muscles and directing them up, toward the spine. The Jade egg compliments the mula bandha work by providing gentle resistance and biofeedback.

Reclaiming your rite to pleasure and connecting to your sacred self and womanly body parts is the purpose for this workshop.

THE ANATOMY OF THE HOUSE

WITH KUMI SAWYERS AND ALEX SHARRY

SATURDAY 3/3, 12:30-3:30pm AT LOVE YOGA EAST

SUNDAY 3/4, 12:30-3:30pm AT LOVE YOGA VENICE

The magic of metaphor musters the spirit of imagination allowing our consciousness, our vim, to travel the nooks and crannies of our bodies.  In this lifetime, we are the occupants tenanting this space, our bodies are our abode, our home.  Metaphor is commonly used in literature to pep the banal and transport us into the abundant realm of imagination.  At Katonah Yoga, we use metaphor as a framework for the work, envisioning our body as a house with three floors and nine rooms; a place we occupy, mess up, clean up, refurbish, redesign, and restore.  We use this metaphor as a tool to gain insight into where one spends most of their time, which parts are overused, underused, relied upon, ignored.  The goal is to occupy the space with efficiency…….travel to and live in every room and utilize what each room offers for our optimal health, safety, well-being, and joy.

Join Kumi and Alex for a workshop on the anatomy of the abode...a workshop about human design and how we rouse and revify our make up with the magic of metaphor.
